12 of the Sickest multi-genre Turks and Caicos Song References

From the likes of Drake, ASAP Rocky, Meg Thee Stallion + more — here is multigenre list of Turks and Caicos lyric mentions by international artists sorted by release date.

Gone are the days when mention of our country Turks and Caicos would produce a clueless response. To sum it up in colloquial terms, “y’all can’t talk to us now”.

Our lesser known unparalleled beaches and exclusivity is a major selling point for the elite or average man and suddenly everyone knows about it.

From our biggest stan Drake to our friend across the pond Dua Lipa, the Turks and Caicos Islands has been mentioned in global songs over 50 times. This article will rank the top 12 multi-genre songs from international artists which have referenced the TCI sorted by release date in descending order.

12. Megan Thee Stallion – Outside

“Flew me out to Turks just to flirt, we ain’t takin’ pictures”

The impossible to hate Meg Thee Stallion, gave the TCI a shoutout on her song Outside from her debut album after visiting the islands back in September 2020. Her lyrics are accurate as she posted minimally during her vacation and left much to the imagination.

11. sweet virginia – Alexander Nate

“Out in Caicos for like five days in a villa I done seen it all

This song is from an underground artist Alexander Nate not many would have heard of before. Nate’s voice smoothly glides on this track as he drops in a humble brag about his Turks getaway which he visited during his long departure from his hometown Virginia.

10. UN DIA (ONE DAY) – J Balvin ft. Tainy, Dua Lipa, Bad Bunny

“Deja a tus amiga’ allá atrás, que no’ vamos en un viaje escondido’. No’ vamo’ pa’ Turks and Caicos”

In English the lyrics translate to, “Leave your friends back there, we are not going on a hidden trip. We are not going to Turks and Caicos.” J Balvin wants to retain privacy with his lover which is why he says these words.

Of course, we are going to ignore J Balvin and continue to vacation in the Turks and Caicos Islands. Amen?

9. POPSTAR – DJ Khaled ft. Drake

“Nah nah, Turks and Caic’, Go and get your friends we can sneak away.”

Our two biggest fans, DJ Khaled and Drake collaborated on the catchy hit POPSTAR. DJ Khaled was in the islands and Drake in Canada at the filming date of this video. After intense pressure from Khaled to make a video, Drake convinced Justin Bieber to star in it as his replacement.

No worries Drake, we definitely did not notice that it wasn’t you.

8. GREECE – DJ Khaled ft. Drake

Gone out to Caicos, she can stay in my room

July 17, 2020, two tracks in one day. Greece premiered on the same day as the aforementioned POPSTAR with both tracks name dropping the Turks and Caicos Islands. The islands has evidently been a musical muse for the Canadian artist in 2020.

7. Omertà – Drake ft. Rick Ross

“Send ’em to Lagos or Turks and Caicos”

Another casual nod to the Turks and Caicos Islands, Drake recommends us as a tourist destination along with Nigerian capital Lagos and later mentions other Caribbean islands.

6. T.D – Lil Yatchy & Tierra Whack ft. A$AP Rocky, Tyler The Creator

“We ain’t have no Turks and no Caicos (Nah), No fresh pedicure for the sandals (Nah)”

A$AP Rocky who is of Bajan descent, pens the lyrics mentioned above. Recounting the adverse life experiences of his past, he tells listeners about a time where holiday destinations were not in his reach.

5. Pain 1993 – Drake ft. Playboi Carti

“I just got a mansion out in Turks and it’s a beachfront”

It’s confirmed, Drake owns property in the Turks and Caicos Islands. Or is it? Either way we are looking forward to seeing a bit more of the accent chameleon around the rock soon.

4. Turks – Nav ft. Gunna, Travis Scott

“Took twenty b****** on my first vacay, I ain’t pickin’ up, I’m in Turks, lil’ baby”

The song titled Turks is about Nav’s slow rise and grind to fame in the music industry and how he uses Turks to unwind after hard work. Do you know all of the Turks lyrics?

Choosing to be unconventional, Nav opted not to shoot the music video in the islands which would have been icing on the cake.

3. Desires – Drake ft. Future

“I see you back in Turks, Remember who took you there first and don’t you forget it”

Drake the unofficial TCI ambassador is seemingly in his feelings about an old flame who revisited the tourist destination after he introduced her to paradise. Once you go to Turks you never stop returning.

2. No New Friends – DJ Khaled ft. Drake, Rick Ross, Lil Wayne

“Down in Turks and Caicos, Dope boy, that’s my dress code”

While we were still relatively sequestered, Rick Ross made every teen’s 2013 with a surprise name drop of the TCI in No New Friends. It is one of the earliest hip-hop tracks to mention the TCI.

1. Us – Rick Ross ft. Drake

“Just got back from Turks and Caicos, h*** all at the villa”

Us was the song that broke the camel’s back. From recollection, when this song premiered it caused a frenzy to find out who were the “hoes” Drake spoke of. It was also the song many used to explain to others where and what the TCI is by association.
